  • Recognizes 4 GB DIMM with 0 bytes

I have a GA-P55A-UD7. I have been running a pair of 2 GB Ripjaws. I am upgrading to a pair of 4 GB Ripjaws.

I replaced the RAM and it would not boot. Tried one DIMM only - no boot. Put in a 4 GB in socket 1, and a 2 GB in slot 2. Win 7 sees only 2 GB. ET6 shows slot one as having the installed 4 GB DIMM but shows 0 bytes.

An update on the problem - this is not like the sticky at the top of this thread. The BIOS sees the correct amount of RAM. Windows sees nothing.

    Help?

I have added more info. It is not like the symptoms on the thread sticky.

OK. It seems to have sort of healed.

Task manager now reports 6 GB. Easy Tune ( A Gigabyte utility) reports 0 bytes in the 4 GB slot.

Possible/probable action that fixed it - reset BIOS.
