  • Validation On Purchase

I think I may have possibly made a first time builders mistake and purchased RAM that may not be compatible with the motherboard I got to go along with it. I got the numbers mixed up and had two wish lists going on Newegg and submitted the wrong one. Anyway .

    I purchased:

    RAM Set: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
    Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH

    Slated to run @ 1.6v

    Mobo: MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX
Slated to run RAM @ 1.5v

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 Black Edition 3.4GHZ

Also I'm nearly 100% certain that it does, but I did get the right SSD that will work with my MOBO correct? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103727

My main concern though is with the RAM; is that .1 difference in voltage going to hinder my ability to post or eventually have any in-game repercussions with performance? Are the 7-7-7 timings going to be possible? I also didn't order a floppy drive because I was told they are obsolete, this made sense to me because my last MOBO was an EVGA and you could update the Bios I believe with a CD. If this is not the case do I need to hit up MicroCenter and pick up a Floppy drive for BIOS updates?

Meh... maybe I'm just suffering first time buyers jitters or I just didn't do enough research or a combination of both Anyway some reassurance or validation would go along way into settling me down. Thanks in advance.

Well over two days with no reply... at the very least answer the RAM compatibility question someone. My Box is hitting my doorstep today.

Sorry, we are not available on weekends.

The memory you purchased will work just fine. You also purchased the right CPU and motherboard to operate DDR3-1600 CL7. Most people are unable to.

You do not need a floppy drive, most can be done with a USB flash drive these days, or CD.

        Thank you
