  • Msi p55-gd80 : F3-17066cl9d

    Greetings,

I'll get straight to the point... I've got a MSI P55-GD80 motherboard with 4 Gig of F3-17066CL9D memory... 4 more Gig on their way from Newegg, so keep that in mind if answering the following...

I'm getting very poor results with my current setup. Win7 x64 "Experience Index" scores a poor 5.5, the 5.5 coming from the Memory performance. I'm also getting poor results with "Sandra Lite 2010.SP1.d", as seen in the attached picture. I don't do "BIOS tuning" on daily basis, so I tend to forget whatever I learn a few months before. But from whatever I *do* remember, things appear to be properly configured... So I'm clueless as to what I need to do to fix my problem... I've attached a bunch of CPU-Z pics, to see if somebody can enlighten me...

I gotta feeling I'll look like an idiot when the answer comes back... but it's a price I'm willing to pay And, again, if you have any insights on my upcoming memory upgrade to a total of 8 Gig, let me know... (yes, identical memory)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Weird... everything looks just fine in CPU-Z. Do you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard?

Run Everest Ultimate memory benchmark test and let me know the results.

For an additional 4GB, you'll just need to increase CPU VTT Voltage.

    Thank you

      hmmm....

      Hello,

Thanks for the quick response! I have downloaded Everest Ultimate (Trial) and tested my system... Well... looks like I am getting good results through those tests.

Now, I'm not sure why the performance isn't (relatively) as good in Sandra... but I may just be comparing results with more extreme performances. So I went back to it, and checked out the "Live Ranks" for all 3 memory tests... Memory Bandwidth, Memory Latency, Cache and Memory... and I'm Higher than 86.26%, 99.1% & 88.76% respectively. So I may be scoring better than I had originally thought. As far as the Windows Memory Index... well... let's not waste too much time on those results...

Oh... BIOS version... well, it *was* up to date... but MSI has released a new one about a month ago... seeing my results under a different light now, and with the confirmation that I haven't screwed any settings in my current config... I think I'll keep things as is for now... and bump up that CPU VTT voltage when the new sticks arrive.

Thanks again for the quick reply!!

        hold your horses...

I have just received my 4 extra gig from Newegg... one day ahead of time... no wonder I've been their customer since 2001!

Anyway, once I installed the new sticks... I ran the Windows Experience Index and the memory score jumped from a 5.5 to a 7.8 (now my best score)!! I also re-ran Sandra and my new results are 96.30%, 99.21% & 96.62%!

I can see how the "Windows Experience Index" would factor in the available memory for the "Experience" calcs... But I guess I'm a little surprised that adding memory to my system impacted the Sandra "memory performance"...

Oh well... I'm a happy happy fellow now
