  • Need help with BIOS settings

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 Propus 2.8GHz
    Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Let me start out by saying I'm only a novice builder

This is a brand new system that loaded up fine with just one BSOD the other day.

When I ran some memtests I couldn't get it to pass without errors. I tried setting it to 1066/1333/1600 and it failed all three times. when set to 1600 the system would just reset even with a little bump to the NB volt (+.1).

When I tested each of the 2GB sticks alone they both made it through 4 passes with no errors, so the sticks are good. Had my timings set to 9-9-9-24-2 for all testing.

Looking to learn, this is my first AMD build as well as first time playing with DDR3.

    Thanks!

With 4 modules, you will need to increase NB Voltage +0.3V. In addition, set NB Frequency to x11 2200Mhz, CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V and see how that goes.

sorry I was unclear in my original post

only two 2GB sticks for a total of 4GB on this system

Still try NB Frequency to x11 2200Mhz, CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V, and let me know how that goes.

        Thank you

tried increasing the CPU-NB +0.1V, still get errors in memtest.

Can't raise the multiplier past x10 for the NB Freq, should I raise the clock?

No, do you have HT Voltage? Try increasing that to 1.40V.

If you can, send me pictures of the BIOS and I can see if anything is set incorrectly.

            Thank you

I'm a bit confused is my CPU ND VID Volt my Hyper Transport Volt?

and the NB Volt is the Hyper Transport Link Volt?

I have the memory set to 1333Mhz for now because I can't even get that stable, but windows will boot and work with it. At 1600Mhz it just crashes.

Try DDR3-1333 8-8-8-24 and see how that works.

No, those are not the corresponding voltages.

                Thank you

tried the same settings you see in the bios screen shot, but with the timings set to 8-8-8-24

memtest still returning errors in the first or second pass

would using the 3rd and 4th DIMM slot help reduce the strain?
mobo manual doesn't say its needed until you pass 1600mhz, but I figure it can't hurt.

Yea, go ahead and take a stab.
