  • XMP vs Manual Settings

    Running F3-12800 CL7Q - 8GB ECO on an MSI GD-65 board.
After updating Bios to 1.7, XMP would no longer work. Updated to Bios 1.8 and XMP will work again.
Question: Is maual setting or XMP profile the preferd way to set memory, or does it matter?
Also have read that by using 4 sticks I may need to increase QPI/VTT voltage. If needed, am wondering, increase by how much?

Manual settings are always preferred. As you have experienced, the XMP Profile may not always work properly. The 3 main settings to always change is the DRAM Frequency, timings, and voltage.

Since this is low voltage 1.35V memory, the CPU should be able to operate 4 modules without increasing the QPI/VTT Voltage. This is where the ECO Series benefits come in. =)

    Thank you
