It will be difficult to reach DDR3-2000. You will need to overclock CPU FSB from 1066MHz to 2000MHz, that is almost double. Also, the P43 Northbridge may not even be strong enough, so I would suggest a low latency CL7 DDR3-1600 instead. If the system can handle more, you can then overclock DDR3-1600+.

    Thank you

I do not plan to run system on 2000, i was planinng to buy that type of memory to use in this pc and in next one as well - the one I will buy in the end of this year (p55 or better) ...
the question was will this memory work on this system , lets say on 1600 or even less ... ?

Yes, DDR3-1600 no problem. You just have to overclock the CPU FSB to 1600MHz.

1st time building a rig, will have a intel q9450

want to know if this memory will work G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM
          http://gskill.com/products.php?index=243

was hoping someone could give me a definite answer before i order some
its either that or the other ram i was looking at G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
          http://gskill.com/products.php?index=88

my preference would be the memory with the faster timings if it is supported

            anyone

            F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM + P5P43TD/USB3?

also what is XMP and why is it needed, is it overclocking, and what exactly gets overclocked?

No problem, but you will need to overclock the CPU FSB to reach DDR3-1600.

XMP enabled sets the memory frequency, timings, and voltage for you. It will detect settings from the memory. You can not use XMP, I believe the BIOS will not adjust CPU settings, so manual settings are needed.

              Thank you
