  • X58A-UD5 F3-16000CL8 6GB Perfect Storm Kit

I am still on the stock intel cooler for now so temps restrict my oc to 3.6Ghz
I am happy with the performance at DDR3 1600Mhz CR1 and the minimum voltages required.

    However I am having toubles running these @ 2000Mhz 10X 200BCLK
Could suggest some settings and timings I should be using?

Here's the BIOS settings for the RAM @ 1600Mhz CR1

    Advanced DRAM Features:
    Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P) ......... [Profile 1]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) ........ [8.0]
    Performance Enhance ...................... [Extreme]
DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) .......... [Expert]

    Channel A + B + C

    Channel A Timing Settings:
    ##Channel A Standard Timing Control##
    CAS Latency Time ...................... 6
    tRCD ....................................... 6
    tRP ......................................... 6
    tRAS ....................................... 16

    ##Channel A Advanced Timing Control##
    tRC ........................................ 22
    tRRD ....................................... 4
    tWTR ...................................... 4
    tWR ........................................8
    tWTP ....................................... 18
    tWL ........................................ 7
    tRFC ....................................... 46
    tRTP ....................................... 4
    tFAW ...................................... 19
    Command Rate (CMD) ................ 1

Round Trip Latency ...................51 (then 53 for Channels B and C)

    This should help you out...

    http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=4423

For DDR3-2000, QPI/VTT Voltage must be manually set. It should need roughly 1.60V, but you should try to find the lowest stable value.

Keep us posted on the results.

    Thank you

      Settings Update

Forgot to get back with updated settings for this build:
Here are the changes from OP. (original post)
      1 round of Prime95 stable.

      LLC: Standard
      vCore: 1.16250v in bios
      QPI/Vtt: 1.300v
      CPU PLL: 1.800v

      PCIE: Normal
      QPI PLL: Normal
      IOH Core: Normal
      ICH I/O: Normal
      ICH Core: Normal

      Round Trip Latency ................... 49 for A, B and C
DRAM: 1.68v forgot to try this at 1.66v or lower, you can give it a go

DDR3-1600 Cas 6 very close in performance to DDR3-2000 Cas 8 but with a lot less volts all round!

I'm still on stock intel cpu cooler btw

The x58-ud5 is a good board but struggles with 2000mhz ddr3 so I will likely see how the 2GBx3 F3-16000CL8 Perfect Storm kit does in a new mobo.
That's when i'll get my high end cpu cooler (probably the Swiftech H20-220 Edge Liquid Cooling Kit)
