  • DDR3 for ASRock M3A785GMH/128M

I want to resolve which memory I should use for an ASRock
M3A785GMH/128M board using an AMD PhenomIIx2 3.1GHZ processor.

    ASRock suggest your part F3-12800CL9-4GBNQ
    I found a review article using F3-12800CL9-4GBRL

The G-Skill RAM configurator doesn't list the motherboard.
Both the DDR3 sets mentioned state 'for INTEL processors' in the G-Skill specification, which doesn't add confidence!
    - and there is nothing to explain the difference between the 'GBNQ' and 'GBRL' versions.

Can anyone provide some clarity of the specification and which is right/better set to use?
I assume the 1600 MBs version will be fine, even if I only run at 1333.

Some AMD CPUs may have problems running DDR3-1600, so they stated as for "Intel". The difference between the two memory packages are minimal. Obviously both have different looking heat spreaders, but in addition, they have different types of IC chips.

Both will work just fine, the RipJaws does have newer type chips. You can operate either of them at DDR3-1333 CL8 without a problem.

    Thank you
