  • Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P and F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

After months of crashes, reboots, and several re-installations of Windows 7 I have come to the conclusion that the RAM (OCZ Obsidian) I originally bought for the system is the root of all my problems.

    I have a:

    Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P
    Intel i5 750 Lynnfield Processor
(other less involved parts are a Sapphire 5770 Video Card and a OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W power supply)

I have now purchased a memory which is on the ?Compatible Memory? list for the motherboard. I have purchased the G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ (2 x 2GB kit for 4GB)

I would like to know the recommend memory settings for this memory and motherboard combination. I am not overclocking. I would just like the system to run at spec and stable. I am not sure if I should just set it up to run with XMP and leave everything at auto, or are there some adjustments that are needed.

Thanks for the help?and I look forward to a nice stable setup!

I have a new favorite memory brand! G.Skill!

I updated to the latest F8 Bios. The XMP option was right there...I enabled it...and BOOM! Autodected at 1600!!!

The system is running noticably faster (the old memory I could only run at 1066 to have it work at all), faster than I expected. The i5 system is now running the way I had thought it should run! My 8 year old son liked the red color too! He actually said that the memory was like "Red Matter" from Star Trek...it is powerful and made things fast!

Now I have to re-install Windows 7 one last time. With all the crashes...it will not install programs and I get error upon error (not due to the new memory but from crashes during program installs and such). Hopefully a nice new install will make the system run perfect!

I have also never got a more complete and rapid response from any forum before! G.Skill it great!

      Thanks G.Skill!
