well i got my new g.skill ram today but only 4 gigs of it arrived , the other two sticks will be here in a week for a total of 8 gig, I hav e my q9650 o/ced to 4.0 and when i put in the 4 gig of ram and set it to the xmp profile 1 it upped the freq to 1759 wich is way over the 1600 they are rated for, so i set it to manual with 7,7,8,7,24 settings and 1.68 voltages and with a 240b strap my ram is running at 1440, everything nice and stable, but iam wondering when my other 4 gig arrive will i be able to run all 8 gig at 1600 mhz? or will i need to keep it lower than that?and is 1.68 volts to high as the ram calls for 1.65v? I just had some cheap ram in my puter before (8gig) and to tell you the truth it is faster with these g.skills and just 4 gigs than it was before with 8 gigs lol, any info you can give me on runing 8 gig at 1600mhz will be appreciated

You should not need more than 1.65V VDIMM for this memory package.

8GB should have no problems at DDR3-1600, but you may need to increase the MCH Core Voltage to 1.40V to stabilize the memory controller.

Keep us posted on the results.

OK i will back it down to 1.65 like it calls for, i cant wait till the rest shows up, Iam very pleased with this ram I thought that my puter would be alot slower since going from 8 to 4 gig but to tell ya the truth it is so much faster and snappier, everything opens so fast and so responsive, g.skill is excellent ram!!! I will not buy any other brand, cant wait to see if its faster yet when 8 gig is installed, ill keep ya posted for sure

one more thing in my bios it has dram performance enhance...settings are standard, turbo, extreme, Ive always had mine set to standard, Is that alright or should i put it on turbo or extreme? keep in mind my cpu is o/ced to 4.0, dont know if that matters though

Standard is fine. 8GB will only reduce lag under heavy loads. If you are just booting up Windows, it will not be much faster.

          Thank you

ok if i want to run my ram at 1600 with my o/c on cpu this is my problem, right now i have mymch freq latch at 333 and the spd multiplier at 240b and my ram is at 1420 if i go to 340b my ram jumps to 1780 wich is way to high, so what am i supposed to do? do i set my mch freq latch to 266 then and try a multiplier that gets me close to 1600? am i loseing performance by going to 266 from 333? my o/c on cpu is 4.0 from 3.0 so that swhy my freq will be to high on the ram , hope this kinda makse sense lol

You can only get one or the other since multipliers are locked. So you will need to set your target frequencies, then simply fine the best CPU Host Frequency and multipliers that can accomodate both.

Based off your current settings, I would suggest backing off the CPU Host Frequency with 3.40B, so you get roughly DDR3-1700. This should not be a problem for the memory.

                Thank you

I don't remember the limits of this motherboard, but you should be able to by raising the NB Voltage.

                      Thank you

one other thing lets say i need to up the voltage on these sticks I think 1.65 is stock, whats the safest highest voltage i can take these too? Its too bad motherboards link the ram speed with the cpu fsb,

I can not suggest going more than 1.70V...

The memory frequency isn't necessarily latched to the CPU FSB, but you are limited to multipliers, which is probably what you mean.

                            Thank you

I will post back here,, also its great haveing the makers of my ram answering my questions, doesnt get any better than that!! keep up the great work, as it helps out alot of people
