Hi
I'm having issues with the following specs
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R (Bios F7 up to date)
2x2Gb DDR3 PC12800 Gskill ripjaw F3-12800 CL9D-4GBRL
Core i5 750
Antec P183
Corsair VX550W
Noctua NH-U12P SE2
WD Caviar Blue 640Gb
HD5850 1Gb Powercolor (Driver up to date)
DVD Recorder Samsung SH-S223C
Samsung Syncmaster 2370HD
Windows 7 64 bit family
USB external HD WD My Book 1To
On Cold Boot (or after 6 to 8 hours rest) all i get is a black screen and no POST, the fans are working (sometimes CPU Fans are running at full speed , making a lot of noise ), the HD is making normal noise, no motherboard beep, USB peripherals are not powered.
I need to turn the computer off , then turn it on a second time to finally get POST, one beep, and then Boot.
On effective boot i meet some random issues (20% times) mostly windows recovery tools messages.
Otherwise, the system fully loads, seems stable and works perfectly (tested to 5h uptime).
I have checked the following points:
- unplugged and replugged each card and cables
- updated BIOS from F3 to F7
and I found no solution.
I am currently testing the RAM
By default RAM is recognized as a 10600 (1333 Mhz) 9-9-9-24 Command Rate 2 tRFC 88
1.5V voltage
Seeing information on some posts here I have tried to manually input the ram values (9-9-9-24 CR 2 tRFC 88) and i turned XMP mode on to get 1600 Mhz then slightly raised ram voltage to 1.56V.
On reboot the system seemed stable, so i ran a 2h memtest, with no errors.
This morning, first try after these changes, the motherboard beeped and POST on cold boot, and i immediatly ran memtest for a full 6h test.
After 5 minutes on Test #5 : 2 errors.
I am now waiting for a longer memtest run to get significant information.
But for now, are these errors relative to a ram defect or to a bad value input ?
Will my cold boot issues be solved by changing the Ram ?
or do i need to investigate further to finally find the part that's driving me crazy ?
any suggestions ?
Thanks
