  • F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH + GA-770TA-UD3 = chaos

    Hello dear G.Skill support guys.
My mind is going to collapse soon so ill make it short and hope I can provide as much Information as I can on the first go.

    the RAM:
    http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=223

    the Board:
    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=3272

(Yes Im aware that the RAM is not on the "Memory Supported List" but I found several people on other forums which also use this board with the said RAM)

    the Chaos:
It started out buying new hardware: CPU, Mainboard, Graphiccard
Already owned: PSU, HDD, DVD Drive

I installed the RAM with Auto timings (9-9-9-24-33-1 i think)
I also tried as said on the website (7-7-7-21-31-2)

[the last 2 ones are: tRC and Command Rate]
I got Bluescreens when running Win7 Professional x64 (with the latest drivers from the above website):
    0x0000001A, 0x00000050, 0x0000004E and recently also 0x0000000A

This behaviour made my HDD data corrupt untill one seemed dead.
I bought a new one and updated the BIOS to F2 (still most recent).
Installed Win7 x64 again, still BSODs.
Ran Memtest86+ (recent version) 3 Passes without error (tested both modules at once)
Bought new Graphiccard (cause of Artifacts before BSODs), still BSODS
    Bought new PSU, still BSODS
    Installed Win7 again, still BSOD's
Ran Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool -> found errors. It doesnt say nothing mroe than that.
I tested each stick on each of the 4 Slots -> no errors.
I booted the OS with each stick with no errors.
It ran for severall hours with no errors.
I plug in both sticks and get into the OS -> BSOD's

I also always tried the different Timings, but it makes me wonder, there are more things in the BIOS to set up than I have information. Have a look at the manual downloadable here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...l&FileID=19993 on Page -41-

I just plugged in both sticks again and ran the Windows Mem Diag Tool again and yes, still errors but behold: The OS booted and its still running...! (about 2 hours)

I wont push my luck, I want to correct this problem, either through replacing RAM or Mainboard or through correct Timings.

    Thanks for your time.

edt: gonna startup Anno 1404 now and cry myself to sleep if it ends in a bluescreen

With the memory frequency, timings, and voltage set, try increasing the HT Voltage to 1.30V. What CPU are you using?

    Thank you

Woah thanks for the quick reply..

Im using a AMD Phenom II 955 BE C3.. no OC
Should I use your Timings on the Website or the ones which CPU-Z give me?
      CPU-Z: 7-7-7-19-31-2 with 1.6 V
      Website: 7-7-7-21-?-2 (i think?)

What about all the missing Parameters?! (-> manual link above)
      They seem quiet important.

the value in CPU-Z XMP profile is not always correct, so we'd recommend you to set with the timing you saw on our website
and the sub timing would be fine if set it to auto
        thanks

Thats the problem: I cant set those I dont know to Auto, I have to enter some value.
          Just look at the manual.

you could clear CMOS or load optimal default, then the other timing would be set to default value
and only set those main timing you need
            thanks

What slots do you have them installed in? They should be in the white slots.

                Thank you

I'd have to say replace motherboard, since modules work fine individually.

                    Thank you

I replaced the RAM with another G.Skill Set: F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ and now it works fine.
This RAM is also listed on the "Memory Supported List" of the Motherboard.

                      Thanks for your support
