  • Dual Channel - one at a time

I have a Macbook Pro that takes ddr3 8500 memory. It came with (2) 2gb chips. If I replace one with a F3-8500CL7S-4GBSQ now to move to 6gb, will this cause problems? And if I sell the two 2gb chips and buy a second F3-8500CL7S-4GBSQ, will that essentially be the same as the 8gb dual channel kit? Thanks.

If the specifications are the same for both the 4GB and 2GB modules, then they should have no problems operating together. Yes, if you purchase two of the single modules it is essentially like purchasing the dual channel kit.

Just so that you know, the correct memory package for your laptop is the G.Skill FA-8500CL7S-4GBSQ not the F3-8500CL7S-4GBSQ.

    Thank you

That is interesting... I have already purchased the F3 module and installed it. What is the difference? Should I expect to have problems?

One is specifically tested for Apple computers. Many people have reported the F3 to work just fine as well, so if you don't have any problems, you should be fine.
