got my new setup last week and i've pretty much got the cpu oc down and now trying to figure out the ram. so far from what i can see theres a few things that effect stability with testing many different settings....timings, cpunb v's and now im testing voltage. there is a jedec for xmp that shows 1.6 and newegg sells them as 1.6v but the question is what can i crank them up to?
so far i have:
win booted w/ these@ cas 8 1850mhz(no stability test)
ran occt med set for hours @7 7 7 19 26 1400mhz
ran occt med set for hours@cas8, cas9 1120mhz
ran occt med set 6 hours@7 7 5 19 26 1400mhz bsod mem dump@1.5v
currently testing occt med set@ 7 7 5 17 25 1400mhz@1.6v
no boot cas7@1.65v 1680mhz
no boot cas6@1.6v 1400mhz
ran occt med set for 8 hours 1.2 cpunb, cas9@1.5v 1120mhz no crash(ended test)
i have an amd phenom ii 955 w/ gigabyte ga-790xta-ud4 setup and corsair 550vx powering it all. i know amd's can handle much higher volts on the memory so thats not an issue. but i want to know how far i can actually crank them without frying them for a somewhat long term oc. as with amd i'm trying to get the fastest speed with the tightest timings.
thought i would share my experience for info purpose while asking the question...but not to get muddled what is the max v's i can pump into these for daily use. thanks in advance.
