ASUS M4A79T Deluxe + 4GBRL = Only dimm slot 1 and 3 allow post

I have a problem with getting dual channel to work as well as getting 8 gigs of this ram to run.. If I have a stick in either dimm slot 2 or 4 the pc does not post.. Case fans spin up but the cpu fan does not spin and my graphics card leds blink over and over.. Now if I put the sticks in dimm slot 1 or 3 or both it boots up fine and runs fine.. No dual channel though and no 8 gigs =(

Any idea's? I have messed with the timings but have not been able to use dimm slot 2 or 4 yet..

With default settings, everything on AUTO, you should be able to POST with 1 or 2 sticks installed in the black slots. Sounds like your CPU may be defective, and you may need to have it replaced.

Try settings the memory to DDR3-1333 with 8-8-8-24 timings and see if that will make a difference. Get two sticks table first before attempting four.

I had a bad stick.. Sent the pair back got a new pair and all is great now.
