  • Giga 790XTA-UD4 and F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK

    Greetings.

I've built a system for a friend who lives over 4800km away, and I need to be sure I have everything working as best it can before I ship.

So, I have an AMD Phenom II 945 C3-stepping CPU in a Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 updated to the F2 BIOS, and the F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK set in the first two memory slots.

I've install Vista Business x64 to great success, and have performed as much burn-in/diagnostic as my brain can handle

No problems, at all. Everything is working as expected.

I plan to do a dry-run of a Win7 install tonight, if time permits.

In the BIOS, everything is basically set to 'Auto', except what I have changed in the DRAM Configuration sub-menu (per the XMP suggestion(s) revealed via CPUZ64_153), as follows:

    DCTs Mode: Unganged
    DDR3 Timing Items: Manual
    CAS# latency: 8T
RAS to CAS R/W Delay: 8T
    Row Precharge Time: 8T
    Minimum RAS Active Time: 21T
    1T/2T Command Timing: 2T
    TwTr Command Delay: 5T
    Trfc0 for DIMM1: 110ns
    Trfc2 for DIMM2: 90ns
    Trfc1 for DIMM3: 110ns
    Trfc3 for DIMM4: 90ns
    Write Recovery Time: 10T
    Precharge Time: 5T
    Row Cycle Time: 35T
    RAS to RAS Delay: 4T

(all CHA and CHB settings are set to 'Auto', except "CHA MEMCLK drive strength" was set automagically by the BIOS to '1.25x')

As she has no desire to be clocking this machine past what I set here, so I just want to make sure everything is basically "stock/good" so she can go-about her business as she sees fit.

Her current system is a Tyan S2877 with two Opteron 246's, so I'm expecting her to be quite impressed the first time she powers-on the machine . . . I want to make sure that is definitely the outcome <s>

Thank you for your time and attention.

Is everything stable with those settings? If so, everything should be fine.

    Thank you

      A.o.k.

Stable, as far as I can tell.

      But what do I know

      I've some more testing before I feel ready to ship . . . .

      Thanks.
