I'm using a Asus P7P55D-E Pro board http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...n2V&templete=2 and an i7 860 CPU and am having trouble deciding on memory. I don't plan on gaming heavily but may do some in the future. I use my computer for general use and photo and video editing. I want my system to be as fast as possible yet stable as a rock. Now on to my question.
Is there a noticeable difference from 1333 to 1600? When would the 1600 be most advantageous.
Here is the ram I'm thinking of buying. Do you know if this ram has Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) Support?
8GB of G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
or 8gb of G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH
If there isn't a significant difference in real world performance would it be better to go for the 1333? If the 1600 is better is it considered overclocking if I use it and is it difficult to make the necessary changes in the bios? XMP?
Thanks
Jim
