  • Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard with F3-1066CL8D-4GBRM memory?

I have the Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard with Phenom II X4 955 cpu, and I'm trying to decide between the F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK [http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=95] memory and the Ripjaw F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM [http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=224] memory. Both are listed as compatible with the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard according to G.Skill, but only the HK, and not the Ripjaw, is listed in Gigabyte's Memory Support List. What is the difference between the two? I see that there is a difference in timing: the HK memory is 8-8-8-21 and the Ripjaw is 8-8-8-24-2N. Is one going to cause me more problems than the other as far as having to make changes in the BIOS? Thanks!

Either one will work fine on that motherboard, although the RipJaws Series is our new technology memory package that has proven to provide high performance results.

Will I need to change anything in the BIOS in order to use the Ripjaw, and if so, what will I need to do? Thanks!

Nope, both should be able to pick up on their own. Simply double check to make sure memory frequency is DDR3-1333. Memory timings are tCL 8 - tRCD 8 - tRP 8 - tRAS 24. Memory Voltage should be 1.50V. You should have no issues.
