Hello folks, I have a question regarding RAM. I ordered 8GB of RAM from newegg.com.G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH I have had some issues with blue screens. I ran tests on the RAM module and have found one of the 4 modules to have problems.
I am in the process of filing for an RMA. I am unsure if I shuld send just a pair of the RAM back (4GB 2x2) or send all 8GB back. My concerns are compatability issues. I am a bit over my head but have heard if running that much RAM is is prefered to receive all 8GB of RAM (matched) at the same time preferably from the same batch/lot of RAM. I am wondering if I shuuld return all 8GB (only 1 bad module) or if retruning only the matched pair of 4GB is best. Obviously if I keep 4GB of the 8GB I can still operate. If there is an advantage to retruning all 8GB to receive a matched batch then I can live without it. Any advice would be appreciated. Would like to return this ASAP. (frusterated grrrr)
I noticed the 4 modules of RAM have sequential serial numbers. Just wondering if this was important as well (meaning from same lot/batch I suspect) ?
