  • F3-10666CL9-4GBNQ and a GA-MA790XT-UD4P Problem

    I'm getting an error when running MEMTEST 4.0.

    My specs are:

    Phenom II X3 720 @ 2.8 (Stock)
    WD Caviar Black 640 GB
    EVGA GTX 260 Core 216
    and the Motherboard and Ram(4GB. 2x2GB)

    I'm getting an error after about 45 minutes to an hour in MEMTEST.

    CPU-Z reads as follows:

    DRAM Frequency = 669.7 MHz
    FSBRAM = 3:10
    CL = 9.0
    tRCD = 9
    tRP = 9
    tRAS = 24
    tRC = 33
    CR = 2T (I manually changed this from 1T)

    in BIOS it reads as follows:

    TwTr Command Delay = 5T
    Trfc0 for DIMM1 = 110ns
    Trfc2 for DIMM2 = 90ns
    Trfc1 for DIMM3 = 110ns
    Trfc3 for DIMM4 = 90ns
    Write Recovery Time = 10T
    Precharge Time = 5T
    RAS to RAS Delay = 4t
    Memory Clock = x6.66 1333MHz
    DDR3 1.5V = 1.600V (I found this strange. My memory sticker says 1.5 volts, but my MB automatically sets it at 1.6V at stock speeds and won't let me manually change it any lower.)

    Basically I changed my DDR3 Timings to Manual but left everything that was populated manually as is, only changing the CR from 1T to 2T to try and get an error free memtest.

    I left my CPU at stock and have everything set to Auto, Voltage and all.

    My BIOS/CPU-Z detects the following:

    NB Frequency/HT Link = 2009.1
    Bus Speed = 200.9
    Core Voltage = 1.328

    My temps are:

    CPU = 39C stable, 58C when running Prime95.
    System = 27C stable, 31C when running Prime95.

    I was able to run a Torture Test on just the CPU overnight using Prime95 and got no errors. When I tried to do a balanced Torture Test including the Ram, I received an error which lead me to memtest.

    I need help. Are there any settings I need to change?

    would you like to keep all settings default to see if it works fine?
    it should also run at DDR3 1333 9-9-9-24
    please let us know the result
    thanks

      I thought I had it running at default. The only thing I changed was the 1T to 2T to see if it helped but it didn't work for either. Am I missing something?

        would you like to try one stick at one time?
        if one is defective, you may need to contact with us for RMA
        thanks

          Problem solved!!! I did a little research and found out the .exe version of Memtest is not as reliable as the bootable iso one. I ran the bootable iso version and made it to 6 hours with no errors! Thanks for the help. Now I just have to figure out why I'm getting an error in Prime95 after an hour or so.
