  • Please suggest the best DDR3 RAM

    Hello there,

I want to install 32GB G-SKILL DDR3 RAM in my laptop. Please suggest the best compatible G-SKILL DDR3 RAM.
I was thinking which among these will be best for my laptop? There are 4 DIMM slots available for 8GB each.

    F3-1333C9Q-32GRSL
    Ripjaws DDR3 SO-DIMM
    DDR3L-1333 CL9-9-9 1.35V
    32GB (4x8GB)

    OR

    F3-1600C9Q-32GRSL
    Ripjaws DDR3 SO-DIMM
    DDR3L-1600 CL9-9-9 1.35V
    32GB (4x8GB)

Following are some of the laptop details which would give you an idea:

If they are both still available for you, then the F3-1600C9Q-32GRSL would be preferable, because of the higher frequency.

Hello emissary42 , Thank you so much for your troubleshooting input. I had F3-1600C9D-16GRSL on one of my other laptops. And I installed these two modules with the existing Hynix (4Gb x 2 MODULES). So this is a total of 24Gb DDR3 in the system. Well, nothing significant in performance. I am unsure if mixing GSkill with other make Hynix would be causing this slowness. And could you please let me know if I go for a higher Frequency DDR3: F3-2133C11Q-32GRSL? The processor will automatically downclock to 1600Mhz. Or will it be worth going for F3-2133C11Q-32GRSL?
And it isn't easy to find F3-2133C11Q-32GRSL or F3-2133C11D-16GRSL, or F3-1866C10Q-32GRSL.
Please let me know your thoughts.
      Thank you.

Your CPU does not support higher memory ratios, so DDR3-1600 is optimal already. When mixing memory the motherboard chooses a common denominator from the supported frequency and timings. So if the timings differ, you tend to get the slower ones. With OEM modules like the Hynix ones above mixed in, that would be CL11(-11-11) instead of CL9(-9-9). The performance impact from the latency difference is measurable, but likely won't be noticeable in daily use.
