  • Considering upgrade from 8gb to 16gb... Add 2 sticks, or 2x4 w/ 2x8?

I am considering bumping up to 16GB just for the heck of it, don't really need it, but little extra Ram can't hurt I suppose.

    I am currently using these...

    http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-12800cl9d-8gbsr2

    They are also successfully overclocked at 1866 / 9-10-9-28-2T @ v1.45

    Motherboard is ASRock Z97 Extreme6
CPU is Intel i5-4690K overclocked at 4.7ghz

Should I just buy another identical set, which is a more economical option for me; and fill my last 2 slots on my motherboard and will they be fine with the current OC settings... or would it be less stress on the Mem Controller, if I bought say this set - http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-1866c9d-16gsr

I'm not sure how current gen MB's (z97's & up) handle having all 4 slots being used... I just remember when I had a z68, and before that an 890FX & 990FX boards I used to have people always said using all 4 slots put a lotta stress on the Mem Controller; but I don't see that said as often anymore with Devil's Canyon and newer boards.

Still the same, it's best to go with a single kit of 16GSR for optimal performance.
