  • Vostro 3300 memory compatibility problem

    Two Vostro 3300 shipped with 4GB (2x2GB 1.5v).
Attempting upgrade to 8GB, so far without success.
    Latest Bios A12

    Crucial.com memory selector claims support for 4GB DDR3-12800 CL11 1.35v

I've tried two G-Skill products with identical results:

    1) G-Skill F3-1600C9D-8GBSL (PC3-12800, CL9, 1.35v)

    2) G-Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBSQ (PC3-12800, CL9, 1.5v)

None boot completely, either as a single device or in combination with existing memory (at same voltage). All devices are recognized in the BIOS (as 1066MHz as expected). Following BIOS splash screen, attempts to boot Windows result in video corrupted in repeated interlaced block pattern and system freezes.

F5 MATS (self test) fails with corrupted screen graphics after several minutes. System is unresponsive.
Memtest 86+ fails almost immediately (Fail-Safe or not) with a spattering of black character cells

Your specs appear to be compatible, yet don't work.
Any compatibility suggestions would be appreciated.

Are there any technical support people here?

The problem was part density. The Vostro 3300 (and 3400 I bet) require low density parts, and these are all high density parts and do not work.

      Crucial.com has low density parts.
