  • Boot problem with F3-2133C9Q-32GTX on Asus Z97 PRO

    Hello to all,
I just bought this kit: F3-2133C9Q-32GTX
I installed it on the following system:
    MB: Asus Z97 PRO
    CPU: Intel i7-4790K
    VideoCard: Nvidia GTX 970 4GB

The problem only occurs when I put together all 4 memory sticks.
    The system fails to boot.

To be more precise, as soon as I press the power on button the fans starts spinning, I can see some digits changing frequently on the onboard debug display, and after a few seconds it shut down and restart in a loop (no beep at all).
I can't even see anything on the monitor, let alone entering the bios.
So I can't check XMP settings or anything else.

If I put only 2 memory sticks (on the appropriate slots) the system powers up correctly.
I can enter the bios, set the XMP settings and logging into Windows 8.1.

But again if I put all 4 sticks together the system refuses to boot.

I was thinking about an insufficient power supply from the PSU, that is a CoolerMaster 700W SilentPro.
Checking on internet I've seen that giving my setup I should need aroud 450W only, so I suppose it's not an issue here.

EDIT: I just experimented a bit.
Testing each memory stick individually they work fine, so I think it's not a defecting kit.
Testing each slot individually and in pair they work fine too, so I think it's not a defective motherboard either.
On the QVL for this memory kit and my motherboard is listed.

    Thank you for your support,
    Max

    Solved

    Solved!
    Ok, I'm stupid, sorry!

I updated the BIOS at the end of june, so I didn't think to update it again.
But updating the bios to version 2501 solved everything!

Now I have all 4 sticks plugged in and my system sees to the very last byte at the correct frequency.

Well... maybe I talked too soon.
The system now boots, but several times I experiences sudden reboots.
While working the system goes blank and enters in an infinite reboot loop.
When I stop it and reboot after a while it still doesn't boot (on board led says code 55) and does nothing.
After a while, eventually, it boots again.

This happens even with only 2 memory sticks plugged in.

I don't think it's a temperature issue, the sticks are not even hot touching by hand.
Now I can't keep it up for more than a few minutes, so I don't know if I can perform some kind of memory test.

      EDIT:
Now I'm booting with 2 sticks only.
The first pair sometimes boots and crash after a while.
The other pair "seems" to be working correctly.
I'm trying to perform some heavy task to see if they are solid or not.

      Any suggestions?
      Thank you

Run a stress test to see if they can pass. Prime95 is a good one for stability.
