  • Mixing RipJaws X Cas 10 1866 memory with RipJaws X Cas 11 2133

    I have 2x8 of Ripjaws X Cas 10 1866 (F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL) memory and found a nice sale on another 2x8 RipJaws X Cas 11 2133 memory (F3-2133C11D-16GXL).

I'd like a total of 32GB as I have a ton of family movies I need to pull off tape and digitize and edit. Not to mention working with Photoshop.

Is this a recipe for disaster mixing them? I would like to overclock and hit 2133 or 2400. So thoughts on if I'm not crazy.. what setting I should try with? It's on a ASUS Z97 Pro Gaming mb.

Have your already tried if you can hit 2133/2400 with your current kit?

Other than that mixing kits is generally not recommended and the success rate seems to be lower for mixes with different specs, on automatic settings at least. So predicting any possible overclock basically is pure lottery. Different types of kits might need different timings and voltages for certain clocks, esp. if they use different types of ICs.

      What CPU do you have?

try the settings of the DDR3-2133 kit, set DRAM Voltage to 1.65V, and see if that works.
