I'm looking to upgrade a Dell OptiPlex 7010 MT to 16GB and am wondering if there is any way to determine compatibility with the G.Skill kits.
I know these systems are built for stability, not overclocking, so the intention is to stay with DDR3-1600 memory. The motherboard is a Dell branded board with a Q77 Intel chipset and will support up to 32GB of memory (2 banks of 2), and was built by Dell in early Nov. Beyond that, I don't have much more info without running a diagnostic tool on the system.
My other question is whether or not there is any advantage to a 2x8GB vs. 4x4GB configuration? I know using fewer sticks is better for overclocking, but that won't be an issue here.
The kits I'm currently looking at are:
4x4GB Kit - F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
2x8GB Kit - F3-1600C9D-16GXM
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

If it helps, these systems shipped from Dell with Hynix 4GB memory modules, part HMT451U6BFR8C-PB
