  • Gskill F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR - 1 stick works other won't

    Hi!

    Im Marcelo from Argentina.
Right now Im building a Pc for a friend of mine.
    Specs:
    AMD FX6300
    Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
    Gskill F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR (2x4gb) DDR3 1866mhz
    WD Blue 1tb
    Thermaltake 600w PSU
    Etc

    The problem is:

I put the 2 sticks of ram on A1 and B1, push de Power button... everything powers up, but no boot screen.
    I change'em to A1 and A2, same result.
    to A2 and B2, same.

Then I put just ONE stick on B1. It Works! Boot up and everything went ok.
Then, turn off, put the other stick on B2. Doesn't boot up.
Take out the stick that was on B1, put the other stick in B1. Doesn't boot.

    Updated the Bios.

    Same results.

Anyway, the question is that if Im missing something? or is that stick dead?
We're goin to ask for a replacement next week.

Thanks for any comment or help.

    Ofesad.

Did you try the stick that worked in B1 in B2?

Technically, you should try each module in A2 to see if they can work. If one is defective, send it in for RMA:

Stick1 works in any socket (A1,A2,B1,B2), also was tested in other motherboard (Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0). System boots up and works fine.

Stick2 doesn't works in any socket. Also tested in the other motherboard. It won't boot up.

I called the reseller (H3Hardware) and he toldme to send'em the two sticks so he can test'em and send me a replacement.

Tomorrow I'll be sending him the sticks and hopefully this week will have a new kit.

The only problem is that he's going to make me pay for every shipment...
