F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK and Dell Optiplex 380

For some reason, this memory prevents Dell optiplex 380s from even booting. It simply starts throwing the memory error beep code, and does not even allow you to reach the BIOS or anything.

I checked this memory with the chipset and everything, and I just can not find a solution as to why this is happening. We bought a 4 sets of these 4gb (2x2gb) modules for upgrades in the office, and I am very confused as to why this is not working.

Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks.

Check to see if the memory has chips on one side or both.

Try a 10666 model or DDR3-1600 CL11 model that has IC chips on both sides of the stick and that should work better:

Since this is probably the best method to resolve this-- can you shed some light on how you came to your conclusion, so that I can better understand? The timing on the chips you recommended are the same as the module that currently works (Not to be confused with the ones that we bought and do not work).

Pre-built computers can only support standard RAM. This allows for the best compatibility. So with any Dell, HP, Lenovo, and any computer that you did not build from scratch, most likely it will only support standard RAM.

The DDR3 standard is:

DDR3-1066 CL7
DDR3-1333 CL9
DDR3-1600 CL11
DDR3-1866 CL11

So whichever frequency your system/CPU can support, then you will want to get one of the types of RAM above.
