  • 2x8gb F3-1600c10d-16gao + ga-ma790fxt-ud5p?

Hi, I'm just wanting to confirm that the 2x8gb Ares kit (F3-1600C10D-16GAO) will work in the Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard. I'm running a 1090T and currently have 4x2gb Trident installed.

My usual computer shops don't list this RAM as being compatible with the board, but a few shops I've never heard of before that I found through static ice list the board as compatible, but in the list, the board along with a few others seems to be just tacked onto the end of the list. I've checked the G.Skill site doesn't mention anything older than a 9xx chipset.

Just wanting to make sure 100% before I purchase.

    Thanks,.

With the latest BIOS the memory should be compatible, but don't forget for DDR3-1600 you need to manually input settings to stabilize the RAM. DDR3-1333 CL9 is plug and play.

    Thank you

Cheers thanks for that. I was just a bit sceptical as the board supports a maximum 16gb, so I wasn't sure if that meant a limit split evenly per slot meaning a max of 4gb per stick of RAM or if it was a total limit per channel.

I noticed there was an F8n BIOS available so I updated that last night. Also noted that I will need to input settings in manually. I had to do that with the Tridents as well as my system would never be stable. Admittedly though I probably bought the wrong RAM last time around.

      Thanks.

It is 4GB per slot, but some people have had success with 8GB modules. I'm not certain for that particular motherboard, but hopefully it can. If not you can always exchange them for a 4 x 4GB kit.

        Thank you
