  • successor to F3-12800CL9-2GBRL?

I was gifted a custom built high end system not long ago with 4GB of F3-12800CL9-2GBRL RAM. I recently installed Call of Duty Ghosts when it came up on a free weekend on Steam. I read the system requirements while it was installing and noticed that it requires 6GB of RAM. My motherboard (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A...specifications) can support up to 16GB of RAM. I would like my system to be running topped out. Unfortunately I can't find the aforementioned RAM part number on newegg, tigerdirect, or even G.SKILL's website. So it would seem it's been discontinued. What was it replaced with?

One of these kits will be a good fit:

    Best choice for gaming:

Also, would you mind choosing a different user name? To avoid any possible confusion, we would like people to refrain from using any "G.Skill" in the user name. Let me know what you would like to change to and I can put it in effect right away.

    Thank you

I know next to nothing about RAM. This one you posted looks good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231442. *edit* I just looked at the G.Skill website and apparently that's both a dual and a quad channel kit. Also my motherboard is on the QVL list for that RAM. Looks like i'll be making some purchases soon.

Correct, quad channel memory kit just means there are 4 modules that are guaranteed to work at rated specifications in a single computer. Whereas if you purchased two separate kits, they are not guaranteed at the rated specifications.

If the motherboard is quad channel, then it would reach the rated specifications with quad channel.
