All DDR3 memory is capable of quad channel, tri channel, dual channel, and Single. Its up to the board, and how many sticks you have (Need 4 for quad). But if you have a dual channel Motherboard and put 4 sticks in it will create 2 sets of dual channel memory at 8 GB a piece in your case. The only advantage in buying a quad kit is they are guaranteed to all work together, if you buy 4 separate sticks this is not the case.
