  • MSI 990FXA & 17000 Memory

Hello. Read the following article on this site and had a few questions.
    http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=9320

I have the same MB: MSI 990FXA-GD80
similar CPU: AMD Phenom x4 965BE
    different memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C9D-16GXH

Questions I have: should I be trying the same steps mentioned at the bottom to get the memory up to 2133? Would this alternate model work with those steps? And if so, are there more specific/dumbed-down/noobed-down instruction navigating the bios to adjust those settings? Thanks!

Yes, same method, in the end it's about finding the correct CPU-NB Voltage your CPU needs to stabilize the memory. It can be very difficult for that CPU to stabilize DDR3-2133, so you may find that DDR3-1866 with lower timings is best. Either way, the memory kit you have is great so you can achieve superb results.

    Thank you
