    Yes, that's what I was thinking, too. I wanted to run the situation by you to see if you had a magic BIOS change for this particular issue, but apparently not. I've filled out the RMA request and already gotten the authorization number.

    Thanks for your support in getting to what I hope will be the solution.

            Memory timings

            If I wanted to loosen my memory timings from 5.5.5.15 what would be the best approach? Start with 6.5.5.15 then 6.6.5.15? Not sure what the most efficient method would be.

              Yes, or if you are trying to overclock, sometimes it's easier to go the other way.. like 6-6-6-18, to get it to boot up, then work your way down to see what the tightest timings are for you desired target frequency.

                I can boot no problem. I'm trying to see if I can eliminate Prime95 errors. However I'm overclocking my Q9550 to 3.77GHz. It performs well in everyday life but I get Prime95 errors.

                This is where I'm at now. Do you have any suggestions?

                  Double check voltages. MCH Core should not need 1.40V unless you're using 4 sticks for 8GB... Everything else looks fine.

                    Yes I do have 8GB RAM. I have a feeling the RAM just may not be capable of performing under this setup. I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my RAM to something faster. Do you have any suggestions?

                    • UPDATE:
                      I just did some tests. I ran memtest+ v4.1 on one pair of RAM in slots 1 and 3 and ran several passes of Memtest with no problem. I then put the other pair of RAM in the same slots (1 and 3) and it failed within a couple minutes. Is this a sign I have a defective set of RAM? All this while not overclocked, of course.

                      • Most likely, try testing each stick of that "bad" set to see if one acts differently than the other.

                        • Maximum voltage

                          Is it OK to go a tad higher than the recommended 2.1v? I'm wondering if my prime errors are caused by not enough voltage. I still get Prime95 errors even with 6,6,6,18. With Memtest however I can run 24 hours+ without errors.

                              • If I wanted to eek out a bit more performance would you start with lowering the CAS Latency Time, tRCD, tRP and tRAS? Or would you go for the advanced timings like tRRD, tWTR, tWR, tRFC, tRTP and command rate?
                                What would be the best approach? Thanks.
