  • Dual Channel

Hi i just bought myself most of a new computer, and while waiting for a power supply, ive been reading the mobo's manual. it was talking about how to set up Dual channel for the ddr2. I was wondering if i use dual channel support, will i get the full 4gigs of my ram, or do you sacrafice an ammount for the 128bit bandwidth?

the dual channel runs with 128bit bandwidth and it has nothing about the capacity of the memory

what's our product you are using?
If you use 4 GB memory, you'll need a 64bit OS to get all 4 GB memory to use
or you'll only see about 3.2-3.5GB memory in the system
    it's a limitation of 32bit OS

Yes, im using two chips of 2GB gskill ram. I would rather use a 64 bit system, but ive been told that a lot of software isnt availible in the 64 bit systems. Any ways jumping from 640 megs of ram to 3.5 gigs is going to be amazing for me either way.

So i read somewhere that the system only displays about 3.5 gigs, does that mean it stull uses the other half a gig or what?

if you are not using 64bit system, you'll not get total 4 GB to use
even in VISTA SP1 32bit, you can see total 4GB, but you can still using about 3.2-3.5GB
