My first post here, and of course I have a question.
I have a used Mac Pro incoming and would like to upgrade the memory beyond the stock 2GB. Newegg currently has a 10% off on memory and I was looking at the G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 4GB (2 x 2GB) kit, which contains 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400). The Mac Pro memory specs are as follows.
Fully buffered dual inline memory modules (FB-DIMMs)
PC2-6400, 800 MHz, DDR2, FB-DIMMs
DIMMs must be installed in matched pairs of equal size and equal specification
(an equal number of ICs per DIMM)
Eight DIMM slots available (four slots per memory card)
Error-correcting code (ECC)
72-bit wide, 240-pin modules
36 ICs maximum per DIMM
The specifications for the G.Skill kit seem to meet the overall requirements, but I can't find mention if it's ECC or fully buffered. Anyone know if it will work?
