PC-4200 Memory issue in Gateway

I have a Gateway MT6707 Laptop with 2GB PC2-4200 memory installed.
I purchased the F2-4200CL42-2GBSQ memory in 2 2GB modules to upgrade the memory.
The memory matches timing and configuration exactly except for size. When installed the system will not boot. I even tried one module and then the other. Still no boot? Do I have a bad batch? Any suggestions!

Had a hunch when you said "except for size"...

well, of course they don't work if you purchased a size that does not fit specifications. Your laptop can only support 1GB modules, that's why this 2GB module does not work. Your laptop can only support 2GB max, 1GB per slot.
