  • GSK F2-8800CL5D-4GBPI R Boot Problem

I'm having trouble getting four sticks of the GSK F2-8800CL5D-4GBPI R to boot. I don't get any beeps or anything, just a blank screen. However, if I take one stick of any slot out the computer will boot just fine and run fine. I tried two sticks and it booted, then the other two sticks and it booted and all sticks passed memtest so the sticks are good.

Previous to this RAM I had 8GB(4 sticks) of Corsair 800mhz RAM that ran fine. I reset all the BIOS before installing the new ram.

Some of the things I've tried is swapping all the RAM sticks into different slots. I've tried upping the NB v. to as far as 1.3v and the DRAM V. to 1.92. Nothing works for all four sticks.

    My system specs are:

Asus P5Q Pro Turbo (333 FSB, reset for new ram) (Auto voltage)
    Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 2.66ghz
    HD 5770 x2

    Thanks guys for your help.

NB Voltage 1.20V, DRAM Voltage 1.90V should work fine. What settings did you use?

Here is a quick review of what should be done..

    DDR2-1066
    5-5-5-15
    tWR 8
    tRFC 80

    DRAM Voltage 1.90V
    NB Voltage 1.20V

Other than this, it should work fine. This motherboard should not have a problem at all.

    Thank you

      Hello,

I have exactly the same problem. My system boots with 2 sticks of F2-8800CL5D-4GBPI but won't boot with four sticks. There is no beep and nothing on the screen.

      Hardware:
      P5Q Pro Turbo
      Video Card HD4870X2 stock settings
      Core 2 quad extreme Q6850 3.0ghz @3.67ghz (FSB 333 and multiplier 11X)

      I have tested with:

      DDR2-1066
      5-5-5-15 and 6-6-6-18
      tWR from 8 to 10
      tRFC 80 to 85
NB Voltage from 1.20 to 1.40V
DRAM Voltage from 1.90 to 2.20V

I also have tested with no OC on cpu but no luck.

      What else can I try?

      Thanks!

How about 3 sticks? Did you try the modules in both sets of slots? Either the slots are bad or the two memory kits are not compatible with each other.

Also, do you have the latest BIOS?

        Thank you

          Hello,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have latest bios 0602.

          We have slots A1 (yellow) + A2 (black) and B1 (yellow) + B2 (black)

          What I have tried today:

          - tested each stick individually, and one of them does not boot at all. This means that it is bad for sure?

          With the good sticks:

          - A1 + A2 system only recognizes single

          - A1 + B1 no beep, blank screen, no boot (but this works fine with my old patriot sticks)

          - A2 + B2 works fine

          - A1 + A2 + B1 beep, recognizes the 6gb but crashes at windows start screen

          My settings now are:

          AI Tuning/Overclock = Manual
          CPU Ratio Setting = 11
          FSB Frequency = 333
FSB Strap to North Bridge = auto
          DRAM Frequency = 1066
          DRAM Timing Control = Manual
          <if taken out of auto>:
          1st info:
          CAS# Latency = 5
          DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5
          DRAM RAS# Precharge = 5
DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge Time = 15
          RAS# to RAS# Delay = Auto
Row Refresh Cycle Time = 80
          Write Recovery Time = 8
DRAM Static Read Control = Disabled
          DRAM Read Training = Disabled
          MEM. OC Charger = Auto
          Ai Clock Twister = Auto
          Ai Transaction Booster = Auto
          FSB Termination Voltage = Ditto
          DRAM Voltage = 2.1V
          NB Voltage = 1.4
          NB GTL Reference = Auto
          SB Voltage = Auto
          PCIE SATA Voltage = Auto
          Load-Line Calibration = Enabled
          CPU Spread Spectrum = Disabled
          PCIE Spread Spectrum = Disabled

How can we make it work with 6gb?

Is there anything else I can try with the stick that does not boot?

          Thanks

Sounds like that one module is bad.

For three sticks, you can use those settings above, but NB Voltage should be ~1.25V.

Also, this kit is 1.80-1.90V, so set DRAM Voltage to 1.90V.

If you set voltages too high, it can cause instability instead.

            Thank you

Ok, I will set NB to 1.25 and DRAM to 1.8. If it does not work, I will raise DRAM up to 1.9v.

              Thanks

                  Try just two sticks first.

                  DDR2-1066 5-5-5-15 1.90V

                  Thank you

I am already using two sticks right now with this setup (A2 + B2). when I add the third stick on slots A1 or B1 it crashes on startup, but reads all 6GB assymetric mode.

I dont know if this helps, but depending on the NB ~1.25 the system freezes on windows startup screen, or, it goes blank and restart. BTW, it does not show that message "overclock failure" on POST.

Try a slightly lower NB Voltage, 1.20 or 1.15V

                      Thank you

Steps are 0,02 so I tested now 1.14, 1.16, 1.18 and 1.2 and no luck, still crashes and restart.

I added the two sticks of my old Patriot mem PDC24G6400ELK on A1 and B1 (yellow) and it is working fine with 8gb 800mhz NB 1.2 and DRAM 1.9 5-5-5-15. Tested with games and no crash at all.

I dont understand why different sticks from different brands can work so well together and 3 sticks of same model dont work...

Post BIOS pictures if you can, I don't know why you are having a problem.

                            Thank you
