  • Bios settings for F2-6400CL4-1GBPK

    Hello,

My bios settings have reset and I can't find again the sub-timings needed for those memory. There was a nice bios screenshot for those, but it's not available anymore. (was hosted on gskillusa). I'm getting some BSOD since that bios settings reset.

I've read the sticky and found :

CL4-4-4-12 / CL4-4-3-10(2 sticks)/14(4 Sticks) *Recommended to those who has locked multiplier with FSB at/above 450Mhz*:
    -Up to: 938Mhz/1002Mhz (depending ratio 1:1 938Mhz / 5:6 1002Mhz)
-tRP 3t-above (without errors didn't see any reason why not use 3t condition +920Mhz 1:1 4T).
-tRAS 10t-above (with 8GB to consider 14 or 17t seems the best).
    -tWR=6t-8t, tWTR: S=3t D=4t(5T at +920Mhz), tRTR S=4t D=5t, tWTW: S=4t D=5t, tRTW=7t
-Performance level/tRD: Read 'Enable Static read' + Auto Performance Level
-'ALL PRE Delay to XXX' HAS to be 4T min. tWTP to be (ALL PRE Delay to XXX + Pre to Pre + RTP = tWTP) = 12 at tRTP at 3T (tRTP would be faster at maximum(15T)).
    -Voltages: Functional at 1.86v(BIOS, 1.960v Actual), Recommended: 2.160v (ASUS boards = 2.06v, Gigabyte = 1.90v.. on BIOS)
Right now i'm using 4-4-4-12-4-42-3-11-7-13 but there are many more options to fit the 4-42-3-11-7-13 thus i don't really know where to put what. In the quote above i can't find the "42" and in my bios i can only set it to 40 or 45.

Anyone could be kind enough to be really precise and tell me what timings and subtimings to use with those settings. I'm running the FSB at 400Mhz, and the RAM is 1:1. I'm running an Asus P5QC and here are the timings i have using memset.

    Thanks

Look in BIOS, maybe you should plug those numbers in BIOS.

      Thank you

I know I can "plug" the numbers in the bios. I just want to know what numbers to put in front of what. Those on the screenshot are the ones I have put but I'm not sure they are good.

While looking at CPU-Z, 2 sticks of RAM are printed 5-5-5-15 and 2 4-4-4-12 on the panel which shows the factory values of the RAM. It's quite strange since both package are the same.

If your system is running fine, then they are good! If you system is unstable, then you may need to make some changes. No need to change what is good.

Please make a small effort in reading my posts, really annoying to come for SUPPORT for memories that I paid and read that kind of answers. I tried to my best to be as precise as possible, and you obviously didn't read.

I didn't understand what it is that you were after. For sub timings, it depends on what your motherboard can accept. You should be able to simply configure basic settings, then allow the BIOS to configure sub timings. Look in BIOS to see what it sets it at, and you can adjust/set it based on that. Currently, some of your settings are very loose/high, which may be the reasonw why you are experiencing instability. So don't even set sub timings if you don't know what they are or should be.

tWTR and Performance Level seem to be the ones that are very off. Try 4 for tWTR and 6 for Performance Level.

                Thank you

                  Thanks for the answer

Here are all the settings availabe i have in the BIOS.

I tried letting the BIOS do his job but I'm still unstabled. The timings i had before were perfect 4-4-4-12-4-42-3-11-7-13 but I don't know where to put those numbers !!

Are you sure both sticks are still good? Have you tried running memtest on them? You may also want to manually set DRAM Voltage.

                    Thank you

I've run prime95 for 3 hours, and the windows memtest for like 2h.

                      I have set the timings to 5 5 5 15 all other settings defaults, 1.9 V in the bios (tried 2.0 and 2.06V) but CPU-Z says that for 5 5 5 15 i should set 1.8

                      SB Voltage 1.3
                      NB Voltage 1.1
                      FSB Voltage 1.3

                      With FSB 400 Mhz
                      FSB Strat 333 Mhz

CPU-Z is the suggest values, you can simply ignore them. With those settings, are you still having problems? If so, simply send them in for new replacements.

                            I've found my problem.

2 sets aren't working properly. They pass memtest under windows but they do not pass memtest86.

                            Thanks for your time
