  • FSB Limitations

Currently I have a Gigabyte UD3P Motherboard, in it I already have 2 sticks of your DDR2 trident memory at 1200mhz and am very pleased.

I would like to add 2 more identical sticks, will they be able to run at the same speeds on the motherboard? Or is there some kind of limitation involved? I know it would involve the FSB speeds, but i'm not sure how to calculate it. Without overclock my board supports 1600FSB

The Processor is a Intel Q9550

Well, if you are already operating DDR2-1200, then your FSB speed should be fine. When adding 4 modules, your main concern is the Northbridge (memory controller). The voltage needs to be increased to 1.40V, and possibly more to have all 4 modules at DDR2-1200. This is a nice motherboard, so no matter what, results should be real nice.

    Thank you
