  • ASUS M4A78-E and F2-6400CL5D-8GBPQ issue

Model of the motherboard: ASUS M4A78 PLUS - Last BIOS update made
    Model of the memory: F2-6400CL5D-8GBPQ
Model of the CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

    Problem:
PC does not power up at all -- no POST, no beep code.
If I remove the RAM, I get a "memory error" beep code.
If I replace the RAM with a 2GB stick from another PC, everything boots fine.

Same problem as mentionned here : http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=3961

I've tried every slot possible, it didn't help. I've also tried to put manual frequency and voltage, it didn't help either. I didn't try any other manual setting.

    Any clue ?

Sounds like the BIOS is not capable of these particular 4GB modules. I would suggest contacting ASUS to see which 4GB modules would be compatible with that motherboard.

    Thank you
