  • F2-8500cl5d-4gbtd + Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H (rev. 1.0)

    Hello,

I am using the above memory modules and MB. My cpu is AMD ATHLON II X2 250 3.0GHZ DUAL-CORE.

When I set the frequency to 1066Mhz, the system restarts everytime just before booting into windows. I have tried WINXP and Win7 with the same results. The system is new and it behaves like this since the beggining. When I set the memory to 800MHz, the system boots normally, but almost all the applications run very unstable (like wmp, divX player, win live messenger). Please advise. Is there any incompatibility between this particular G.skill module and the Gigabyte MB?

    Best Regards,

    George

Please make the following changes in BIOS and let me know how it goes.

    DRAM Configuration (submenu)
    DDRII Timing - Manual
    CAS Latency - 5T
    RAS to CAS R/W Delay - 5T
    Row Precharge Time - 5T
Minimum RAS Active Time - 15T
    1T/2T Command Timing - 2T
    TwTr Command Delay - 4T
    Trfc0 for DIMM1 - 195ns
    Trfc2 for DIMM2 - 195ns
    Trfc1 for DIMM3 - 1955ns
    Trfc3 for DIMM4 - 1955ns
    Write Recovery Time - 8T
    Precharge Time - 3T
RAS to RAS Delay - 5T

    Set Memory Clock - Manual
    Memory Clock - 1066
    DDR2 Voltage Control - +0.3V
    Northbridge Voltage Control - +0.1V

Do you have the latest BIOS? Also, what slots do you have them installed in? Try the other two slots to see if you will have different results.

    Thank you

      Hello,

Thanks for your help. The 2 modules are installed in slots 0 and 1. I did all that you suggested and naw the system doesnot restart. I will format and install Win7 and see what is going on. Now I have soma stupid winXP version installed. I also noticed that applications run better now.

      Thanks again,
      George
