  • Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L + GSK F28500-CL5D-4GBPK

Well I had ordered these parts before I found out that GSKILL + Gigabyte aren't a great combo. I have them loaded and everything works great, except my ram is set at 800 instead of 1066.

    Two questions:

    1. Is it possible to force 1066 with this board? GA-EP45-DS3L ? I have the F8 BIOS - latest one for this board.

    2. Is the difference between 800 and 1066 speed significant when it comes to RAM? I am not an extreme overclocker - the games I play seem very fast and no problems. Will it hurt to leave ram at 800?

GA-EP45-DS3L has lots of problem to us too.
    I tested F8, F9, F10, F11 bios, and none of them work. (F9, F10, F11 are beta bios)
Gigabyte said there is no problem to run, and now i will asking them to email me the screen shot.
the same set of memory working fine on other motherboard with DDR2 1066, voltage 2.0

for your 2nd question. yes there is different but not like something we can tell, maybe only 2~3 FPS difference. And, No, running at DDR2 800 is not going to hurt your memory

I have set the ram voltage to 2.1 in the bios but its still failing

Do you have the new f9 bios?

Btw - try this forum: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/

Great help for Gigabyte boards - the people there are great and have great communication skills.
