I have an intel (augsburg) 915G mobo with an intel pentium 4. I'm wondering if the F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS mem sticks will work.

Depends if your motherboard can handle CAS 2.5 @ DDR 400. Please check with Intel to see if this motherboard is able to do so. Otherwise, I recommend the F1-3200PHU2-2GBNT which will be plug and play for this motherboard.
Here is the direct link to that item:

I don't think I'll get much help from Intel or Gateway since this is an old Gateway PC. But from what I've checked I think it can run CAS 2.5 at 333MHz. Can you answer what would happen if memory of CAS 2.5 at 400MHz was run on a motherboard that ran it at 333MHz? Probably not a good idea I would think or would it work just at a performance cost? Anyways it would probably be safer to go with the CAS 3 at 400MHz in which case can you recommend a 1GB kit that would go with your first recommendation?

If you have a computer that can only run DDR 333 @ CAS 2.5, the DDR 400@ CAS 2.5 may not work at all. There is a likely chance that the computer will not boot at all which is why I recommend simply getting CAS 3.
The G.Skill DDR 400 CAS 3 1GB package is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...3200PHU1-1GBNT
If you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know.

I see. Actually intel was kind of helpful. According to tech support it can apparently use memory of CAS 2.5 at 400MHz they just said that if I used the 333MHz with a bus speed of 800MHz frequency it will be clocked at 320Mhz. However since it is a gateway computer I wanted to check with them also but no success yet. Since intel said yes can you recommend a 512MBx2 kit with CAS 2.5 that could go with the 2GB one. Just in case I meant a 512MBx2 for the memory with CAS 3.

So you want to run 2GB @ CAS 3 and 2x512MB @ CAS 2.5? I'm slightly confused and not sure why you would want to do that.

I mean if you can recommend a 512MBx2 kit of CAS 2.5 RAM that would go with the 2GB(1GBx2) F1-3200PHU2-2GBNS kit at CAS 2.5 )and my motherboard). Also, what I meant at the end of my last post was if you can also recommend a 512MBx2 kit of CAS 3 RAM that would go with the 2GB(1GBx2) kit of CAS 3 (and my motherboard) that you recommended before. Hope this is clearer.

Running full slots can cause a memory controller overload, so it may not be the best idea. But you never know until you try it out.
