  • Gskill Ares Tom's hardware posts blaming and doubts about to buy it

    Hi guys.

This is my first post so first of all I'm glad to be new member here .

I would like to ask you several question:

    1)
Are gskill ares ddr3 ram giving some troubles with voltages and xmp or increasing frequency manually? I found several posts of same user where it blames this gskill ram Ares because of voltages and cpu degrading:
    User: jaquith
    Post #4: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thre...l-ares.401445/
    User: jaquith
    Post #8: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thre...s-good.393036/

After the second link, gskill support stops answering.

    2) I already have 4 gskill ares running not overclock
    Row: 0 - 8192 MB PC3-19200 DDR3 SDRAM G Skill F3-2400C11-8GAB
    Row: 1 - 2048 MB PC3-16000 DDR3 SDRAM G Skill F3-16000CL9-2GBRM
    Row: 2 - 8192 MB PC3-19200 DDR3 SDRAM G Skill F3-2400C11-8GAB
    Row: 3 - 2048 MB PC3-16000 DDR3 SDRAM G Skill F3-16000CL9-2GBRM

I'm planning to remove rows 1 and 3 modules (2gb ram each one) and buy gskill sares ddr3 2133 2x8GB PC3-17000 but the 8GB modules I have can run at 2400MHz.

Will they work together? at what frequency? will I be able to run xmp or overclock manually? what voltages should I set?

    My computer specifications are:

    Motherboard Model:
    GIGABYTE Z77X-D3H

    Motherboard Chipset:
    Intel Z77 (Panther Point DH)

    Processor Name:
    Intel Core i5-3570K

    Original Processor Frequency:
    3400.0 MHz

    CPU Brand Name:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz

    CPU Code Name:
    Ivy Bridge-DT

    Thanks for your answers.

    1) Same for any high performance situation, need to input the proper values for the system to be completely stable. If not, the system can be unstable, so it mainly depends on the user's ability to set up properly in BIOS. Not everyone has the same experience, so we are here to help.

    2) Those are two very different kits, but as with any two separate kits, we have no idea how well they can work together if we have not tested them together. Since you have the two kits in hand, only you can determine capabilities.

XMP Profile is for a single kit, so surely that won't won't work.

As far as what settings can work or what should be input, that's up to you to test from a base point and see what they can do together. Let us know the results and we can try to guide you from there.

For guaranteed results, it is recommended to use a single kit of RAM that has been tested from factory.

      Thanks for your answer.

I will try to get 4 modules of same type.

I won't use xmp or manually overclock just in case.
