F3-10666CL7T-6GBPK + GA-X58A-UD3R + i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R (Socket 1366 BIOS Version: FA Chipset Revision: 13)
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model: F3-10666CL7T-6GBPK
Intel i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
When I built this computer five years ago I purchased and installed three 2GB sticks of G.Skill 1033 DDR3 SDRAM for a total of 6 GBs. It has performed flawlessly all these many years.
I recently purchased and installed three more sticks of the exact same memory, but for some reason the motherboard will recognize only three of the six sticks no matter what the configuration. I've switched them, mixed and matched them. Three of the six all work fine but only three of the six are ever recognized.
I'm not fond of playing around with the BIOS but changed the Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.) from Auto to Profile1. It made no difference.
The manual says the motherboard should automatically recognize the memory, but it's just not doing it. Neither the MB manual nor the Gigabyte web site offer deeper explanations, nor has a search on this motherboard and/or the memory modules produced any results on this forum. One sticky post here does suggest that I should update the BIOS, but because I've never had a problem, I have always been reluctant to do that.
Do any of you know what I may do to have all six sticks (12GBs) recognized?
Thank you in advance for your help.
