  • RAM upgrade trouble from 4 to 8 GB

Hi All, I'm having trouble upgrading the ram on my PC. I'm running a intel core 2 quad q9650 on a gigabyte GA-EP45ST- extreme motherboard, currently running G skill f3-12800cl9d-4gbnq working fine, but when i try to swap for G skill f3-12800cl9d-8gbxl when i start the pc it alarms and turns off after about 5 seconds, i've tried just one stick but the same problem arises. The gigabyte manual i found says I can run 32gb so im a bit lost and any help would be greatly appreciated. also the new ram i bought was brand new on line but im not sure how to or if i should have to test it.

    You can't support 32GB.

Do you have the latest BIOS?

Have you tried one module at a time to see if it can work?

Need to try a double sided memory kit like F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT
