Is this just a rebrand of the value ram that inclues a heatspreader? I see that the timings are... umm... poor at best. Just wondering what the point of this ram was?

I guess these are value oriented "Gamer" modules, so the targeted audience couldn't care less about timings.Team HardwareLUXX | Show off your G.SKILL products!

I will give them credit they do look pretty awesome, till you read the spec page

Well, the SL kits with their 1.35V spec will find their way in some systems for sure.Team HardwareLUXX | Show off your G.SKILL products!

Yeah I saw the 1.35v and kind of wondered if you threw 1.5v at them if they would run @ cl9, either way another value option is always good for the consumer, makes the high end parts come down closer in price so people will choose them.

There are some ICs out there that will do CL9 even at 1.35V. The thing is, that with these low specced kits, it is hard to say what you will get. G.SKILL could use pretty much any IC on the market for those and with the exception of some Elpida ICs all of them will reliably do DDR3-1866+ as well.Team HardwareLUXX | Show off your G.SKILL products!

I know there are those that will do 1.35v @cl9, but i figured if they were capable of that they would be in the Eco line that already existed and rated @cl9, why sell them for cheaper?

Are the ECO still available at your market, with 4GB and 8Gb modules even?
Edit: Other than that i don't think the ECO line was a hot seller after the overclockers budget choice, the F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO and the according quad kit, were sold out.Last edited by emissary42; 11-15-2013, 10:09 AM.Team HardwareLUXX | Show off your G.SKILL products!

No I've not seen the CL7 ones in a while but the CL9 ones are still available in the US

Seems they now make 1.35v original Ripjaws and Snipers (though they may have all along and I just didn't notice)
and oddly enough the 1.25v snipers are cheaper than the rest for 8gb

Oh well go figure maybe the Typhoon hasn't affected those prices yet as I'm sure they don't sell as many.
