  • Crossfire lag a memory issue?

Hi. I am new to this so i could use so help. I recently upgraded my PC to support crossfire for gaming. However, when putting in my new cards (HD 6870x2) I seemed to get much lower performance and stuttering in almost all my games. I am aware that not all games run crossfire well and I have swept my video card drivers and reinstalled them after the instalation of the new cards, but my brother(also a member of the forums) and I have almost identical systems and he has no problems at all. Some people are suggesting I have a bottleneck situation somewhere in the system or improperly set mem timings causing instability. I guess what I need to know is what additional information do I need to post to make it easier to properly diagnose the problem? Thanks!

Try one module at a time to see if problem persists. Also, do you have the latest BIOS?

    Thank you

Each module works the same individually. I also have the latest BIOS. I know when I first installed the memory I had to change the timings because I was not running at the correct timings. I may have do that wrong, I dont know. Should I just let the mobo choose? set it back to auto?

Do you have the CL9 model?

If so, AUTO should be fine.

        Thank you

Ask away, I am primarily Intel, but work on AMDs and there's plenty of others here that are strong on AMD

cool, thanks! Well as you can see in my sig, I have a Asus mobo and 3.4ghz quad BE. What I want to know is how to adjust my CPU and North Bridge. From what I do know, my CPU is supposed to operate at 2400 mhz but it is currently set to 2000 so that is the only indication that i know of that my CPU isnt set up right. I have been having microstutter problems with new HD 6870s in crossfire. also some right out freezes. And some people have told me that it could be the CPU not communicating with North Bridge. I just want to know that I have everything set up right before I start returning parts.lol Thanks in advanced for any help!

You mean CPU-NB Frequency 2400MHz. There is a setting for this in BIOS, and you just need to set it.

                            Thank you
