  • Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P RAM

    Hi Guys,

    My setup:
    Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
    AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6Ghz
    G.Skill F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ - 4GB(2x2GB)

That's all I think you really need.

My question is this. I'm running your memory at 1333MHz at 9 9 9 24 timings and was wondering if I could get some help to up the speed to as close to 1600MHz as possible and even lower the timings. I've tried messing with the voltage a little but when i did it crashed on me every time. Yeah I'm a noob when it comes to OC'ing the voltages and such since usually stay away from it. Any help would be great.

    Thanks,

    Furman

Thanks I will try when i get home. Do you think I should run some memtest on it for stability?

Also do you recommend these settings or leaving it at 1333? Whichever is faster is what I will want.

The Precharge Time could only go as low as 4T on my mobo. What bios are you using? Mine is F6 8/6/2009.

So far no crashes with it on 4T. I will run Memtest today and see what happens.

Thanks again, it worked fine while I gamed for a couple hours.

Absolutely test for stability. Good hardware should always check out with stability tests. The settings I sent you are optimum for that memory package and motherboard. You purchased DDR3-1600 so that's what it should be operated at. It should have no problems with that motherboard; that motherboard should be able to handle it.

4T is fine, it allows more time so it should be more stable. Sounds like it is stable, but feel free to run all kinds of tests to be sure. Your computer should be running at optimum potential. =)

          Thank you

Hey I have an update on my system. I received a new CPU for Christmas, the Phenom II X4 955 Black Ed. and I think I was having some BSOD problems because I left my memory to the settings above. I changed it back to default settings for the memory and want to know what I can do to up the memory to 1600+Mhz since I can OC now with ease.

            Once again new CPU

Oh and for the motherboard the Bios Version is F6 from Gigabytes website.

Should be able to use the timings provided earlier and just kick it up to 3.4 GHz, will prob want to increase your CPU/MC voltages a hair

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Really? I'll try it but like I said I was getting BSOD so I went to 1333 default to stop that from happening. Thanks Tradesman.

Which one would you recommend? The beta or the F7?

Since your having problems I would go with the F7 first and try to set everything up . and work with it for a while . If it doesnt work to your likeings try the beta and work with that one and see how it goes.

Yeah well yesterday was messing around with it and crashed my win7 to the point that I had to do a repair on it to get back to it. That sucked. If anybody has any pointers on what I should mess with to get it stable let me know ok. Thanks guys for the help.

You know that Beta is being tested and might not be solid right now. Try the F7 and see if this clears things up for you first.

Are you sure you flashed the BIOS completely? If not this could be giving you problems. Also after flashing did you make sure you used optimized settings in the BIOS?

                              4 more gigs of F3-12800CL9D

After reading what you guys have tried and completed in getting 8 gigs to work on the AM3 board helped me in deciding to get 2 more sticks. I didn't think it was going to work with AMD memory controller problem, but you did it and Thanks to all of you. Why Gigabyte says the board supports 16 gigs is beyond me unless it's 1066 RAM I'm not sure. Thanks again too all.
