    RE: F3-12800CL8D-4GBECO & F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM Compatibility?

    Hi guys,

Looking for some expert advice regarding G.Skill RAM compatibility.

I currently have the below RAM installed, and wish to add another 4GB, minimum.
Obviously I’d prefer to add identical RAM with what is already installed but as its 3 years old,
I am having difficulty finding it to purchase.
So therefore, would the proposed additional RAM match what is already present?
    (Taking into consideration my setup).

    Main Board: GA-EP45T-USB3P

    Current Ram: F3-12800CL8D-4GBECO - Current Ram Timing: 9 9 9 24 on 1.5v

    Proposed Additional Ram: F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM

    Looking forward to your thoughts.
    CPU: Intel Q9650
    Main Board: Gigabyte GA-EP45T-USB3P
    RAM: F3-1600C8Q-16GAB
    GFX: MSI NX8800GTS 512MB OC
    Audio: EMU 0404 PCI
    PSU: Be Quiet 650W
    HDDs: 1x Samsung 840 Series Pro SSD - 128 GB & 2x 1TB Samsung HD103SJ SpinPoint F3 (Raid-1)
Case: Lian Li PC-60FNB Aluminum Midi Tower

Never a good idea to mix DRAM and in particular sets with different voltages (or timings), doubt these will play nice without using more voltage than I'd care to play with

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

      Thanks for that Tradesman.

OK then, so if I was to buy a set of say F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM, will this run OK on my board?

Basically, I am after the fastest RAM for my current board, that I could also later use on an i3/i7 board.

      Cheers,
      B.

Should be able to, may have to loosen the CL to 9 but will still run and give you a headstart to a i series

          Cheers Tradesman.
Think I've found a better solution however.
          I've started a a new thread here.

          Cheers.
